MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City General Hospital announced Saturday that it will not be taking in new patients starting Saturday after it breached full capacity due to the massive spike in COVID-19 cases.

In a statement, the Pasay City Public Information Office advised city residents to wait for further announcements on when it can receive additional patients.

“Ikinalulungkot po naming ipaalam sa lahat na ang ating Pasay City General Hospital ay pansamantalang hindi muna makakatanggap ng mga pasyente simula March 27, 2021 dahil sumobra na po ang kapasidad ng mga kama na maaaring gamitin ng mga pasyente sa ICU [intensive care unit], emergency room, at COVID-19 Ward,” posted the public information office.

(We are saddened to announce that our Pasay City General Hospital will not, temporarily, admit patients starting March 27, 2021, because we have breached full bed capacity that could be used by patients in the ICU, emergency room, and COVID-19 ward.)

The OCTA Research Group posited that Pasay City was one of the cities in Metro Manila to experience a surge in COVID-19 cases and the local government unit has 986 active cases as of March 26.

The Philippines, as a whole, recorded 9,595 new cases Saturday prompting the national government to put Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna under Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Pasay City recommended its citizens to communicate with the PCGH, which is part of One Hospital Command, in whatever case necessary.

The hospital can be reached at 0919-977-3333, 0915-777-7777, and (02) 88650500.
