LUCENA CITY – Four more coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients died in Quezon, bringing the total death toll in the province to 279, health authorities reported Saturday morning.
In its 10 a.m. bulletin, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) said a COVID-19 patient from Atimonan town was the latest to succumb to COVID-19 in the province.
On March 26, the IPHO also reported the deaths of two validated virus carriers in Catanauan town and another one in this city.
From March 1 to 26, a total of 22 deaths from COVID-19 were recorded in the province.
As of March 27, Quezon, which is still on modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status, has recorded 7,882 COVID-19 cases and 7,167 recoveries.
The province has 436 active COVID-19 cases.
From March 1 to 27, a total of 622 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the province, compared to 342 in February.
Dr. Grace Santiago, IPHO head, said the rising number of new cases can be partly linked to the public’s disregard of health and safety protocols.
