Zambales mayor tests positive for COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Mayor Jun Rundstedt Ebdane of Iba, the capital town of Zambales, announced on Friday that he was tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, Ebdane said he had been in isolation since March 21 after learning that he had close contact with a COVID-19 patient.

He said the result of his rapid antigen test on March 21 showed that he was nonreactive, but his reverse transcription-polymerase chain test result four days later was positive for COVID-19.

Before learning about his health status, the mayor said the risk of him transmitting the virus was low since he wore a face mask and shield while attending public events.

On March 22, the mayor’s father, Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., also announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 after a series of public engagements. INQ
