MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has allocated a total of P548 million for the hiring of 7,613 health workers for January to June this year amid the renewed surge of COVID-19 infections.
In a statement on Thursday, the DOH said that as of March 25, it has “sub-allotted and transferred a total of Php 548,787,626.70 for a total of 7,613 hiring slots to the Center for Health Development Metro Manila, DOH retained and Specialty Hospitals, PGH (Philippine General Hospital) and other health facilities.”
The DOH said the amount will cover the “hiring of medical officers, nurses, medical technologist, rad-tech, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, nursing attendant and other allied medical personnel since January 2021 until June 2021.”
The DOH noted that one of the major support it provides to hospitals and other health facilities in the fight against COVID-19 is the augmentation of health workers to ensure an adequate number of personnel for COVID-19 patients.
“For hospitals and other health facilities needing further HRH augmentation they only need to send an official letter request to the Secretary of Health,” the health department added.
