MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday recorded the highest single-day tally among its personnel with 229 new infections, bringing its total to 13,666 COVID-19.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said on Thursday that despite the high number of cases, these were late reports that were included in the tally.

“The 229 reported cases yesterday were the highest reported in a day, but the actual tests were from different dates which include late reports,” he said in a text message to the reporters.

Of the total number of cases, 1,649 are active infections, the PNP said.

Aside from this, the PNP also reported 84 new recoveries and among its police personnel, driving the number of those who successfully recovered to 11,981.

And the death toll among its personnel remains at 36, the PNP said. —  Liezelle Soriano Roy, Trainee
