LUCENA CITY—Police accosted over 1,000 alleged violators of health protocols in Cavite in the last four days amid the continued rampage of COVID-19 in the province.

Col. Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, said in a report posted on Facebook on Wednesday (March 24) that 720 individuals were caught not wearing face masks or violating curfew.

On March 23, 193 violators were also arrested; March 22, 335; and another 220 on March 21.

The violators paid fines or rendered community service in their municipalities.

Starting March 22 to April 4, the Inter-Agency Task Force in Resolution No. 104 placed the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan and the National Capital Region on stricter general community quarantine (GCQ) in response to surging COVID-19 cases with Metro Manila as epicenter.

Authorities imposed stricter quarantine protocols including travel ban, ban on mass gatherings and curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and many other rules.

Gov. Juanito Victor Remulla urged people to stay at home unless it was essential for them to go out.

“It’s is best to stay in and protect yourselves and your loved ones from the ongoing spread of COVID-19,” Remulla said on his Facebook page.

As of March 21, the province has still 2,637 active COVID-19 cases.
