PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– A 23-year-old construction worker was stabbed to death by his co-worker after a drunken altercation over a missing lighter in this city Wednesday.
The victim, Ronel Macemap, 23, was stabbed by suspect Roy Laspinas, 21, at the third floor of a building they were constructing at Delos Reyes Road 1 in Barangay San Pedro at 12:15 a.m., according to a police report.
Barangay tanod (village watchman) chief and first responder Marlon Arias said the victim borrowed a lighter that had “sentimental value” from the suspect while in a drinking session.
An altercation between the two ensued after the lighter was “misplaced,” which led to the stabbing incident.
Macemap suffered a deep stab wound on his left chest that caused his death.
Police arrested Laspinas, who will undergo an inquest proceeding for the crime of murder.
