BACOLOD CITY –– Mayor Evelio Leonardia and 61 barangay captains of this city have postponed plans to get vaccinated against the COVID-19.

Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Officer, said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases reclassified local chief executives as “essential workers,” under Category A4, who is fourth in line to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.

First on the priority list are 1.7 million healthcare workers, followed by senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.

“However, after further clarification and upon review of circumstances, we regret that we need to postpone the intended activity,” Miraflor said.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque on Tuesday said the Palace would refer the case of mayors, who were vaccinated this week, to the Department of Interior and Local Government for investigation.
