/ 07:06 AM February 07, 2012

THE  Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and  Globe Telecom will team up for a  broadcast facility that will use text messaging to send out  advisories, news and updates nationwide.

The agency’s TextBlast  will use the TxtConnect service of Globe Business,  which is Globe’s service for  corporations as well as small-and-medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).

TxtConnect enables clients  to send  a high volume of text messages to a pre-registered group of recipients up to a thousand mobile users, in one sending.

“It’s better than doing individual text messaging. It’s  more efficient and offers reduced SMS rates. As a web-based service, TxtConnect can be accessed anywhere at any time and it is easy to manage, as it allows users to view transactions and summary reports online to know message recipients,” said Globe head for corporate communications Yoly Crisanto.
