Malabon Mayor Lenlen Oreta tests positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines – Malabon City Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta III on Tuesday disclosed he tested positive for COVID-19.

“Nagpa swab test tayo as part of contact tracing. Today, lumabas sa resulta na positive ako sa COVID-19,” Oreta said in a Facebook post.

(We had a swab test as part of contact tracing. Today, our test results showed that I am positive for COVID-19.)

Oreta said that while he did not exhibit symptoms, he added he will be working at home for the next few days.

“There is also an ongoing contact tracing sa mga naka-interact ko (on those I interacted with) these past few days,” he added.

As of March 22, Malabonhas recorded 8,451 COVID-19 cases, of which 919 are active infections.

On Monday, the Philippines recorded 8,019 new COVID-19 cases—an all-time high in single-day increase of infections—bringing the country’s total to 671,792.
