Almost summer: Hot, humid weather to prevail over most of PH — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will experience hot and humid weather, with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, but the state weather bureau has yet to declare the onset of summer.

In its 5 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that due to the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, most parts of the country will experience a generally sultry weather.

“Dahil nga sa ating mainit na hangin na nagmumula sa Dagat Pasipiko ay malaking bahagi pa rin ng ating bansa ang makakaranas ng mainit at maalinsangang panahon, subalit posible pa rin pagdating ng hapon at gabi ay magkakaroon pa rin tayo ng mga isolated thunderstorms,” said meteorologist Meno Mendoza.

(Because of the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, most parts of the country will still have hot and humid weather, with the possibility of having isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon or evening.)

Cloudy skies with scattered rains is also expected over Central Luzon due to the tail-end of frontal system.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan is the prevailing weather system over Northern Luzon, and the easterlies —or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean— continues to affect the rest of the country.

“Sa susunod na dalawa o tatlong araw, wala tayo nakikitang anumang sama ng panahon na posible pong maka-apekto sa loob ng ating Philippine area of responsibility,” Mendoza said.

(In the next two to three days, we do not see any weather disturbance that may affect the Philippine area of responsibility.)

Due to the tail-end of frontal system, cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms is expected over the provinces of Aurora, Quezon and extending to the Bicol Region.

Meanwhile, the amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, and cloudy skies with light rains will hover over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, as Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
