Fire gobbles up parts of 2 chicken restaurants in Pagadian City
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — A fire broke out inside a lechon manok (roasted chicken) restaurant along Pajares Avenue here at 12:20 p.m. and spread to its adjacent restaurant.
Richard Fabria, the city’s disaster risk reduction and management officer, said the fire broke out after power went off in the block where the two restaurants were located.
After the power returned, a worker of Chorks Lechon Manok reported there was still no electricity in the restaurant dining area and was told to standby as an electrician would check their line, according to Ronald Tumatal, restaurant owner.
But a few minutes later, part of the circuit breaker sparked, which could have started the fire, Tumatal said.
Luckily, no one was injured, but the fire, which gobbled up 90 per cent of Chorks, also ate up 20 per cent of the adjacent Princess May Native Restaurant.
