MANILA, Philippines — Warm and humid climate will continue in most parts of the country due to the easterlies although rain is also likely to occur over some areas in Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its Monday afternoon bulletin, Pagasa said the tail end of a frontal system or cold front and the resurgent northeast monsoon or amihan will affect northern and eastern Luzon, including Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and other surrounding provinces, from Monday night to Tuesday or even up to Thursday based on recent wind models, which means overcast skies and rain and possibly slightly colder weather.
The state weather bureau also said isolated thunderstorms are possible in other areas especially by afternoon and night due to the high moisture content brought by the easterlies.
Meanwhile, a cloud cluster outside the Philippine area of responsibility is being monitored for possible development into a low-pressure area. However, Pagasa said its likelihood to develop into a tropical cyclone remains low.
Tuesday’s temperature in Luzon will be warm in general except for areas affected by the cold front. In Metro Manila, it will be around 24 to 32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao, 23 to 31 degrees celsius; Laoag, 26 to 31 degrees Celsius; Baguio, 16 to 23 degrees Celsius; Legazpi, 24 to 31 degrees Celsius; and Puerto Princesa, 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
Visayas and Mindanao will likewise feel hot days even if with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Iloilo and Cebu may have temperatures between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius while Tacloban will have it at 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, Zamboanga at 24 to 33 degrees Celsius, Cagayan de Oro at 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, and Davao at 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Paga said a gale warning is up over some areas in Northern Luzon due to the surge of the northeast monsoon. According to Pagasa, rough to very rough sea conditions will be felt in the whole Ilocos Region, Batanes, Cagayan provinces including the Babuyan Islands, and Isabela.
Pagasa has advised fisherfolk especially those using small boats not to sail in these areas.
The remaining eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas, on the other hand, will have moderate to rough conditions while the western seaboards of Luzon and Mindanao’s eastern seas will be moderate.
