MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 ward and intensive care units (ICU) of the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City and Quezon City have reached full capacity, the hospital management informed the public on Monday.

“We would like to inform everyone that as of 11 a.m. today, March 22, 2021, the COVID-19 ward and ICU units of St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City and Quezon City have reached full capacity,” it said in an advisory.

However, the facilities remain in full service for non-COVID-19 cases, both outpatient and inpatient, according to St. Luke’s management.

The hospital made the announcement as the country sees an increase in COVID-19 cases, with Metro Manila still considered as the center of infections.

On Saturday, the Department of Health reported 7,999 new coronavirus cases—the highest single day case count in the country since the pandemic began.

A total of 663,794 COVID-19 cases have been recorded so far in the country as of Sunday. Of this number, 73,072 are active cases, 577,754 are recoveries, and 12,968 have led to deaths.
