Gyms, spas allowed at limited capacity in GCQ bubble — Palace

MANILA, Philippines — Gyms and spas are allowed to operate at a limited capacity during the two-week general community quarantine (GCQ) with stricter restrictions in Metro Manila and four other provinces, Malacañang clarified on Monday.

In an online briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said gyms and fitness centers may operate up to 75 percent capacity while spas may operate up to 50 percent capacity unless local government units order them to suspend operations.

“Ang mga ito po ay naka-depende rin sa inyong lokal na pamahalaan. Sila ay naglalabas ng ordinansa na nagsususpinde nito katulad ng lungsod Quezon na wala munang gyms, fitness centers at spas,” Roque said.

(This will still depend on your local government units. They come up with an ordinance, like Quezon City, which suspended the operations of gyms, fitness centers and spas.)

Roque initially said the gyms were not allowed to operate during the two-week GCQ in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal.
