LUCENA CITY –– Bacoor City in Cavite province recorded 145 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), including at least 19 senior citizens, on March 19 and 20, local authorities said Monday, March 22.
Health authorities recorded 45 COVID-19 cases on March 19 and 100 on March 20, the city government reported on social media on Monday.
The 19 senior citizens – 11 females and eight males – were among the new patients.
Local authorities also reported the death of five elderlies, bringing the total death toll to 148.
At least 10 patients, including three senior citizens, have recovered.
The city government also reported that of the 55 new COVID-19 recoveries during the two days, at least eight are elderlies.
Bacoor, now under general community quarantine status until April 4, has recorded 4,282 COVID-19 cases and 3,469 recoveries.
The city still has 665 active virus carriers as of March 20.
The city government urged residents to strictly follow health regulations imposed by the national Inter-Agency Task Force during the GCQ period.
On March 14, Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla issued Executive Order No. 06 that had already imposed stringent public rules to prevent virus spread in the locality.
The restrictions include curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.; residents age 14 below and 65 above not allowed outside of their residences; liquor ban during curfew hours, but drinking inside house allowed, and all business establishments ordered close at 9 p.m.
She also ordered that wearing a face mask and face shield are mandatory in public places and transportation.
As of March 19, at least 1,464 health workers in public and private hospitals in the city have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
