MANILA, Philippines — Easterlies will continue to bring warm and humid weather, but a frontal system will bring cloudy skies and rains over the northern and eastern sides of Luzon, state meteorologists said on Sunday.
Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) also showed that the northeast monsoon or amihan will make a weak surge.
Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the northeast monsoon surge will last until Tuesday.
“Inaasahan nga ‘yong surge ng amihan ay posibleng umabot hanggang darating na Tuesday, samantala wala naman po tayong inaasahang bagyo within the outlook period, simula po ngayong araw hanggang sa darating na dalawa hanggang tatlong araw,” Perez said.
(We are expecting this surge of the northeast monsoon to last until the coming Tuesday. Meanwhile, we are not expecting any tropical cyclone within the outlook period, from today up to the following two to three days.)
The tail end of a frontal system and the northeast monsoon will lower temperatures across Luzon for Monday.
The Visayas and Mindanao will also have warm and humid weather that will be felt on Monday except for isolated rains by the afternoon and evening.
Pagasa also issued a gale warning for the seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, and Cagayan province. Fisherfolk in the said areas are advised not to set sail as sea conditions will be rough to very rough.
