CITY OF CALAPAN – The city government will implement a work-from-home scheme for its employees for two weeks starting Monday, March 22, Mayor Arnan Panaligan announced in a video message Saturday evening.
Panaligan appealed to the public for stricter observance of health protocols due to surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the country.
Panaligan also appealed to other national, local and private offices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by holding virtual seminars and trainings, instead of face-to-face meetings.
He also appealed to the public to avoid crowded places, parties drinking and videoke sessions which are considered to be events where the virus could be spread to more people.
“Don’t be lax even when home,” he added.
Barangay assemblies and cockfights are still suspended until otherwise announced in Calapan City, per Inter Agency Task Force order issued on March 18 last year.
Religious and liturgical services are allowed, but limited to 50 percent venue capacity, and the clergy are told to avoid long services.
Processions are not allowed but motorcades can be staged for the Holy Week.
Calapan City police officers were instructed to help implement stricter observance of the health protocols like wearing of masks and face shields and physical distancing in coordination with the city’s Public Safety Department.
Calapan City commemorates its 23rd founding anniversary on March 21 but the city government and residents opted no to organize festivities and ceremonies.
As of Saturday, the city has logged 777 COVID-19 cases ( 24 active cases) including 741 recoveries and 12 deaths.
