MANILA, Philippines — Isolated rains would still occur despite warmer temperatures brought by the easterlies, as thunderstorm activity is still highly likely, according to state meteorologists.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its Friday weather update that the whole country remains affected by the easterlies, or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
However, these easterlies also contribute to the formation of cloud bands that bring short, isolated rain showers in various parts of the country, like what was experienced in some areas within Metro Manila earlier.
Pagasa advised the public to continue monitoring the thunderstorm advisories released by their regional offices to know the weather ahead of time.
For Saturday, a fair weather condition is expected over Luzon, although isolated rain shower are highly probable by afternoon and night.
Temperatures in Metro Manila, Laoag, and Puerto Princesa would play between 25 to 33 degrees Celsius, Tuguegarao with 24 to 32 degrees, Baguio with 17 to 24 degrees, and Legazpi with 26 to 33 degrees.
Similar conditions will occur in Visayas and Mindanao, as Cebu and Tacloban may register temperatures of 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, 26 to 32 degrees in Iloilo, 25 to 3 degrees in Davao, 24 to 35 degrees in Zamboanga, and 23 to 32 degrees in Cagayan de Oro.
Pagasa reminded the public, though, that a new surge of the northeast monsoon would bring colder weather starting Monday next week, especially over Northern Luzon. By Tuesday, Baguio’s temperature may go down to 15 to 24 degrees Celsius, Metro Manila with 25 to 30 degrees, and Legazpi with 25 to 30 degrees.
As of now, no part of the country’s shores are under a gale warning although the waters over Northern Luzon and the entire western seaboard would have a moderate sea condition.
