MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso is on a “consultation tour” for the 2022 national elections, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Friday.

Lacson recalled his meeting with the mayor wherein they discussed the COVID-19 vaccines as well as the 2022 polls. It was Moreno who initiated the meeting, the senator said.

“Ang pinag usapan namin yung vaccine. Of course, napag usapan din yung 2022 and he said na he’s  on a consultation, parang tour…” he said in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel’s (ANC)  morning show, “Headstart.”

Lacson did not mention when the discussion took place but said he specifically requested that there should be no photos of their meeting.

After the meeting, however, he said he saw “Isko-Ping 2022” photos in social media.

“So natawa na lang ako,” Lacson said, “But I didn’t call their attention anymore because you know some supporters are maybe enthusiastic or overeager.”

Moreno, meanwhile, rejected any political discussion after he was included in a list of possible 2022 bets being considered by the newly-formed “1Sambayan” led by retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio.

“I’m just thankful. I don’t want to entertain anymore, any politics for now. I think there will be time for that,” he said in an earlier interview also with ANC.

While Moreno is “eligible” and “qualified” to seek a national post, Lacson said he has so far given his commitment to only one person — Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

“I will support Senate President Sotto kung ano man yung position na tatakbuhan nya, I will support him. That’s the only commitment that I have made so far,” he said, adding he would not break this commitment that he personally made to the Senate leader.
