DFA expresses reservations on giving lifetime passports

/ 05:12 AM March 19, 2021

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday expressed reservations on giving passports with lifetime validity to senior citizens as proposed by Sen. Lito Lapid.

DFA Consular Affairs Office executive director Maria Alnee Gamble, during the hearing on the proposal, said: “The issue there is that the passport will not be compliant because it does not conform with (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards and our senior citizens might have a problem when they cross borders.” —TINA G.
