Hot weather to persist even if rain likely by afternoon, night – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean or the easterlies continue to bring hot weather in many parts of the country even if state meteorologists on Thursday warned of isolated rain showers in the afternoon and at night.
A bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued Thursday afternoon indicated that rain may be experienced in some areas of Metro Manila and Southern Luzon because of the easterlies.
Pagasa’s bulletin also said that no low-pressure area is being monitored at present.
For Friday, the state weather bureau said warm weather will still prevail although there is still a high chance of precipitation later in the day. Temperatures in Metro Manila and Tuguegarao will range from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius, as Laoag will feel it at 24 to 33 degrees Celsius, Puerto Princesa at 25 to 33 degrees Celsius, Legazpi at 26 to 33 degrees Celsius, and Tagaytay at 22 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Similar conditions will likewise dominate Visayas and Mindanao, as temperatures in Iloilo and Cebu will hit 25 to 33 degrees Celsius; Tacloban, 25 to 32 degrees Celsius; Davao, 25 to 34 degrees Celsius; Cagayan de Oro, 23 to 32 degrees Celsius; and Zamboanga, 24 to 35 degrees Celsius.
Despite the warm and humid conditions, Pagasa’s three-day forecast showed that the country may temporarily cool down starting Monday next week, as Baguio’s temperatures will go low and reach between 15 and 23 degrees Celsius from 16 to 24 degrees Celsius this weekend.
Pagasa said this looming situation is due to a surge of the northeast monsoon or amihan. Thus, Metro Manila’s temperatures may also decrease by Monday to 25 to 31 degrees Celsius while Legazpi will have it at 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, Pagasa raised no gale warning for now even if the whole eastern seaboard of the country plus Luzon’s northern waters were forecast to have moderate sea conditions while the rest of the country can expect slight to moderate seas.
