MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration’s main office will reopen on Thursday after a work suspension that extended until Wednesday to allow for thorough sanitation and disinfection to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, “the extended closure of the main building is necessary to avoid intermittent delivery of services to the public and ensure that the bureau’s employees in the safest possible workplace.”

Morente advised the public to stay up to date on future announcements and advisories by visiting the BI website at www.immigration.gov.ph and following the BI on social media.

The BI will continue to maintain a skeleton workforce in some of its main building offices, especially those providing general and support services that are vital to the agency’s operations.
