Over 6,000 medical health workers in QC vaccinated vs COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 6,079 health workers based in Quezon City (QC) have already received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines as of March 16, QC Mayor Joy Belmonte said Wednesday.
Of the total, 5,331 are from private hospitals while 748 work in public hospitals.
Belmonte explained that this number only covers level 1 and level 2 hospitals as tertiary hospitals are reporting their numbers to the Department of Health.
“Sa aming nag-iisang tertiary hospital that is owned by the local government unit, that’s the QC General Hospital, we are very proud to say that we have vaccinated all of our health care workers,” she said in a press briefing.
The vaccination in the city is part of the country’s COVID-19 immunization program, which is so far using 600,000 doses of vaccines from China-based Sinovac BioTech and 525,600 doses of British-Swede firm AstraZeneca’s vaccines.
As of March 16, the national government has vaccinated more than 216,000 medical workers.
