Bulacan town imposes curfew anew to curb COVID-19 surge

BALIWAG, Bulacan –– The local government will again impose a curfew starting Wednesday, March 17, as part of the stricter implementation of a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Mayor Ferdie Estrella said the curfew hours would begin from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. as provided by Municipal Ordinance No. 4.

Estrella said offices were also ordered to observe a 50-percent workforce, while business establishments and public transportation must operate on a 50-percent capacity.

The mayor has also suspended the distribution and submission of student’s modules.

He said a liquor ban was again imposed while bars or nightclubs were also ordered closed until April 4 or until a new advisory is released by the municipal Inter-Agency Task Force.

The tougher MGCQ guidelines would help prevent the escalation of the cases of coronavirus diseases (COVID-19), Estrella said in a text message.

As of Monday, the town recorded 107 active COVID-19 cases. Since last year, there have been 861 COVID-19 cases here.
