Skeletal remains of alleged rebel unearthed in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The skeletal remains of an alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebel were unearthed in Allacapan town, Cagayan province on Saturday (March 13), police said.

The bones reportedly belonged to a rebel identified only as Arman, an alleged member of the Platoon Ernesto-West Committee of the NPA’s Northern Front.

Two former colleagues of Arman, both rebel returnees, claimed that he died in an ambush staged by the rebels against the Special Action Force troopers in Barangay Cataratan, Allacapan town in 2010.

CPolice Cagayan went to Barangay Masisit to unearth the remains with the help of the two rebel returnees.

The remains were brought to the Cagayan Provincial Crime Laboratory Field Office in Lal-lo, Cagayan for proper disposition.
