ALIAGA, Nueva Ecija – Police raided a cockpit here on Friday and arrested 105 people for illegal gambling and for violating quarantine protocols.
Police recovered 25 game fowls and a total of P27,599 in bet money from the suspects who were caught inside the Bumanlag Games and Amusement Arena in Barangay (village) Poblacion East II at 11:30 a.m., the Aliaga police said.
The detained individuals would be charged for violating Presidential Decree No. 449 (the law banning illegal cockfights), PD 1602 (or the illegal gambling statute) and Republic Act No. 11332 (the law which sets policies and procedures for the surveillance and response to notifiable diseases, epidemics, and health events of public health concerns).
