Pagasa: Rain showers expected in Visayas, parts of Luzon, Mindanao due to LPA

Public Weather Forecast Issued at 4:00 AM March 12, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers are expected in the Visayas and parts of Luzon and Mindanao due to the low – pressure area (LPA) southeast of General Santos City, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Friday.

In its early Friday morning bulletin, the state weather bureau said the LPA slightly weakened and was last located 80 kilometers southeast of General Santos City.

Pagasa said the Visayas regions, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Caraga region will experience cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms due to LPA.

The LPA will also bring rains to the Bicol region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) regions, the state weather bureau added.

The LPA has a minimal chance of developing into a storm, Pagasa said.

Pagasa also reported that the northeast monsoon will affect extreme Northern Luzon.

While fair weather is expected over the rest of Luzon, slightly cloudy to cloudy skies and chances of isolated light rain showers are expected over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms may also be experienced in other parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, said Pagasa.
