MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has so far vaccinated more than 114,500 individuals against COVID-19, Malacañang said Thursday.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said that as of Wednesday, 114,615 people have been inoculated against the potentially deadly respiratory illness caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Of the figure, 25,538 were vaccinated on March 10.
The Philippine government has so far deployed 796,950 vaccine doses: 440,450 Coronvac developed by China’s Sinovac Biotech and 356,500 AstraZeneca jab.
Roque said the country so far has 442 vaccination sites, and that 348 of these carried out the inoculations on March 10 in 17 regions covering 176 local government units.
The government kicked off its mass COVID-19 vaccination drive on March 1, following the arrival of 600,000 doses of CoronaVac donated by the Chinese government.
The first person to receive the Sinovac vaccine was the director of the Philippine General Hospital, Dr. Gap Legaspi.
Over 400,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines have also arrived in the country last week.
