LEGAZPI CITY –– A police officer was hacked while the suspect, who created the public disturbance, was shot dead in the town of Calabanga, Camarines Sur, on Wednesday night.

Major Jonnel Averilla, town police chief, said the police officers arrived at past 7 p.m. in the village of Bigaas to pacify Agapito Catimbang Jr., 43, who was armed with two bolos and was attacking a village watchman identified as Danilo Ducusin.

While the policemen were negotiating for his surrender, Catimbang hacked Staff Sergeant Russel Pron on his right arm.
