Drug suspect slain, 60 alleged shabu peddlers nabbed in Cavite
LUCENA CITY –– A drug suspect was killed and 60 others were arrested in buy-bust operations in Cavite province from March 7 to March 10, the police said.
Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, said in a report posted March 10 by the Cavite police public information office on Facebook, that the suspect was killed when he resisted arrest after a drug sting in Dasmariñas City.
The report said the unidentified suspect engaged the policemen in an armed encounter in Barangay Sampaloc 4 of the city around 11:30 p.m. on March 9.
Santos reported that anti-illegal drug operatives collared 60 alleged pushers in 48 drug stings in different parts of the province during the four-day operations.
Authorities confiscated 148 sachets of shabu, seven sachets of marijuana, drug-using items, cash believed to be from the sale of illegal drugs.
The report did not mention the estimated value of the seized drugs.
