Village chief of Cagayan town nabbed in drug buy-bust

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A 45-year-old village captain in Baggao town, Cagayan province was arrested after he yielded “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P6,800 in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday.

But Arnold Antonio Alonzo of Barangay San Isidro claimed he was framed up.

Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents arrested him as he received marked money after selling the alleged shabu to an undercover agent.

Authorities carried out the operation after the suspect was placed on surveillance.

Alonzo is on the list of high-value drug suspects in Cagayan.
