Active COVID-19 cases shoot to 44,470 with 2,886 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 case count went up to 44,470 as of Wednesday after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,886 new infections.
DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin showed that the total case count is now at 603,308, of which 546,293 are recovered patients, and 221 of them are new recoveries.
However, the current death toll went up to 12,545 with 17 new deaths recorded.
Most of the patients or 91.7 percent of active cases only experienced mild symptoms, while 4.0 percent were asymptomatic. But DOH data also showed that 1.7 percent of the patients currently have severe symptoms while another 1.7 percent are in critical condition.
DOH also said that 3,129 of the 30,252 tests conducted on Tuesday came out positive, for a positive rate of 10.3 percent.
There were four duplicates removed from the total case count of which two are recoveries.

Five labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on March 9, 2021.

Also, DOH said that four cases tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final confirmation, while two cases were removed from the total case count as they tested negative.
