Sinovac jabs for frontliners arrive in Batanes
ITBAYAT, Batanes –– The country’s northernmost municipality on Monday received 57 doses of the CoronaVac vaccine for its health frontliners, officials said.
Michelle Cariaso, nurse at the Batanes Provincial Health Office, delivered the vaccines that were part of the allocation for the Cagayan Valley region.
Before reaching this town, the vaccines arrived at 12: 55 p.m. at the Basco Airport via a military helicopter. Dr. Rio Lat Magpantay, director of the Department of Health in Cagayan Valley, accompanied the vaccines.
The vaccines were received in Basco by Provincial Health Officer Roel Nicolas, Batanes General Hospital Chief Dr. Antony Canceran, and DOH-Batanes Development Management Officers Marcelo Dumlao and Lynette Calagui.
Dr. Nikita Gato, Itbayat rural health unit head, said the vaccines would be administered to 49 Itbayat District Hospital employees and eight Rural Health Unit frontliners at the Covered Court here on Wednesday, March 10.
