SANTIAGO CITY –– About 270 healthcare frontliners are targeted for the daily vaccination drive at the Southern Isabela Medical Center (SMIC) in this city after the initial inoculation of its top personnel on Monday.

SIMC, which is one of the six COVID-19-referral hospitals in the Cagayan Valley region, has set up rooms for counseling, registration, vaccination, surveillance, and medical response, said Dr. Jose Ildefonso Costales, hospital chief.

Dr. Emmanuel Salamanca, who oversees the SIMC health professional education and training office, said at least 1,144 health workers were eligible for the CoronaVac inoculation.

Salamanca was SIMC’s first recipient of the CoronaVac vaccine made by Sinovac Biotech Ltd. in China.
