PULILAN, Bulacan –– The municipal hall here was placed on a two-day lockdown starting Monday after the vice mayor, six councilors and eight other municipal employees tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Mayor Maria Rosario Ochoa Montejo on Monday ordered key offices in the town hall to impose a skeletal workforce mode while their workplaces undergo disinfection. Regular work will resume on Wednesday.
The swab tests on Vice Mayor Rec Candido, six councilors, and eight others last week confirmed that they contracted the virus.
Candido publicly disclosed on Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Two of the virus-infected town hall employees went to a mall in Quezon City and took a point-to-point (P2P) passenger bus before heading to their office on Feb. 26, Montejo told the Inquirer.
Montejo has asked residents to strictly practice minimum health standards and avoid attending parties or going to crowded places amid the infection surge.
As of Monday, Pulilan now has 63 new active COVID-19 cases with 366 recoveries from 440 total infections since last year.
