3 top health frontliners get 1st COVID-19 jabs in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS –– Three top Bulacan healthcare workers on Monday led the first batch of medical frontliners who were vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the province launched its local jab program.

Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, director of the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC); Dr. Jose Emiliano Gatchalian, BMC hospital training center officer; and Alma Villena, BMC nurse supervisor, were among the first of the 300 BMC health officials and personnel to be inoculated with the CoronaVac vaccine during the day.

At least 900 doses of the Chinese vaccine made by SinoVac Biotech Ltd. arrived in the province on Saturday.

Dr. Emily Paulino of the Department of Health in Bulacan injected the first dose of the vaccine during the launch at the Hiyas Pavilion Bulacan Vaccination Center in the provincial capitol in this city.

The remaining 533 BMC medical frontliners will be vaccinated in the next two days, Gov. Daniel Fernando said in a brief program.
