IBA, Zambales –– An elderly barangay official here has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday before attending a meeting, officials said.
Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the 64-year-old man had displayed symptoms of the disease after traveling to Olongapo City two weeks ago.
Before attending a meeting in Barangay Sto. Rosario on March 5, he underwent a rapid antigen test as a requirement and was later found reactive to the virus.
He immediately underwent a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test that confirmed that he was infected.
As of March 7, the province listed a total of 962 COVID-19 cases. Twenty-two of these are active cases, 917 are recoveries, and 22 are deaths.
