MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has filed murder and frustrated murder charges against eight suspects in the January 27 North Cotabato bombing that killed one and injured two others.
In a statement on Sunday, the PNP identified those charged as Salahudin Hassa, Lutre Aman, Tasly Saligan, Norodrin Haman, Datu Ali Camsa, Sandali Sindatok, Jordan Kamad, and Tahir Abubakar.
Police said the suspects, all residents of Datu Paglas in Maguindanao, were allegedly members of the Al Khobar Group and Dawlah Islamiya-Hassan Group.
The indictment was filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group before the North Cotabato Provincial Prosecutor’s office.
On January 27, an explosion took place near a bus stop at Tulunan town, Cotabato that resulted in the death of 53-year-old sidewalk vendor Gina Paunon.
Police said the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device.
