MANILA, Philippines – Female passengers are in for a treat as the Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT) line is set to give them free train rides on Monday (March 8), International Women’s Day.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced that women passengers can ride the LRT-2 line for free from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“JUANA FREE RIDE? G! In celebration of International Women’s Day, LRT-2 offers FREE RIDE for women passengers boarding the LRT-2 trains on Monday, March 8, 2021, during the peak hours indicated below. Wishing our passengers a fine and meaningful #InternationalWomensDay!” the LRTA’s Facebook post read.
As per the International Women’s Day (IWD) website, the day is marked to celebrate the “social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.”
“The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality,” the IWD’s website further read.
