Man nabbed in Laguna for alleged gun-for-hire, robbery, extortion links
MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested a man in Laguna for allegedly belonging to a criminal group active in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) region and involved in gun-for-hire, gunrunning, robbery, and extortion activities.
In a statement on Friday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said 44-year-old Ramir Corcolon was arrested in San Pablo, Laguna on Thursday.
The arrest was by virtue of search warrants for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act and for violation of Republic Act 9516 (Illegal possession of explosives).
Recovered from Corcolon were a .45 pistol caliber Colt with serial no. 13761, a caliber .45 magazine loaded with three bullets, seven .45 caliber bullets; 15 bullets for a 9mm pistol, a suspected improvised explosive device, and an Mk-2 fragmentation grenade.
“The arrested suspect was brought to Criminal and Detection Investigation Group (CIDG) Laguna PFU for documentation and proper disposition,” the report read.
