MANILA, Philippines — Easterlies and the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring cloudy skies and rains over certain areas in the country, the weather bureau said Thursday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Masbate, Sorsogon, Biliran, and Samar provinces.

It warned that flash floods or landslides may occur due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, with no significant impact.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will likewise prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon, with no significant impact.

The easterlies, along with localized thunderstorms, meanwhile, will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains over Metro Manila over the rest of the country.

Flash floods or landslides may occur due to severe thunderstorms, Pagasa warned.

Pagasa also recorded a minimum temperature of 23.6°C at 5 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 31.8°C at 2 p.m. at the weather station at the Science Garden, Diliman, Quezon City.
