MANILA, Philippines — The number of new COVID-19 cases reported by the Department of Health (DOH) is steadily rising and has again breached the 2,000-mark, bringing the total active cases in the country to 37,226 as of Thursday.
The DOH said it recorded an additional 2,452 COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, another 266 recoveries were reported, bringing the number of recovered patients to 535,037.
There were also 15 new fatalities, pushing the death toll to 12,404.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country is now at 584,667.
According to DOH, the active cases represent 6.4 percent of the total caseload, while recoveries and deaths compose 91.5 and 2.12 percent of the tally.
The DOH said eight duplicates, including two recoveries, were removed from the total case count.
Meanwhile, five cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Four laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System on Wednesday.
