CRAZYHORSE logged a 25-0 annihilation of Sumaba FC yesterday to take over the top spot in bracket A of the men’s open category of the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue.
CrazyHorse relegated bitter rival Queen City United (QCU) A to second place.
Both teams have accumulated 12 points but CrazyHorse took over the top spot by virtue of its 44-point goal difference. QCU A has a GD of 22 points.
Panalpina FC was handed a 2-0 win on a silver platter after QCU A failed to show up.
This is the second straight default of QCU A in the tournament as the team is also seeing action in the United Football League Second Division Tournament.
Head coach Mario Ceniza, however, said they do not plan to abandon the tournament since they are title contenders.
Sumaba, on the other hand, remains pointless as it has yet to barge into the tournament’s win column.
In bracket B, San Roque Football Club (SRFC) Arsenal took over the top spot from Southwestern University (SWU) after a 4-0 routing of QCU B.
SRFC Arsenal now has 12 points after winning four of its six games.
SWU relinquished the top spot after figuring in a 1-all draw against University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) Alumni.
The last match had Don Bosco United Football Club (DBUFC) scoring a 2-0 win over San Roque Royal United. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
