MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or Amihan is forecast to bring rains over parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said cloudy skies are in store for the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon as a result of the northeast monsoon.

Light to moderate rainfall, along with moderate to sometimes heavy rain, can cause flash floods or landslides, Pagasa added.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will also bring light to sporadic rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, with little effects.

Much of the country will have mainly cloudy to partially cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, with potential flash flooding or landslides due to severe thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds in the northeast direction will be experienced in Northern Luzon, Visayas, and the rest of Luzon, coupled with moderate to rough coastal conditions.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said the rest of the country would have light to moderate winds from east to northeast with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Pagasa also recorded a minimum temperature of 24.5°C at 6 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32.2°C at 3 p.m. at the weather station at the Science Garden, Diliman, Quezon City.
