Man in Davao Sur dies from electric shock while electrocuting fish

DIGOS CITY –– A man, who was electrocuting fish in a river in Magsaysay town, Davao del Sur for easy catching, died from electric shock on Tuesday, March 2.

Major Jeffmar Tercero, Magsaysay police chief, said Ernesto Bonggoyan Salvador, 56, of Poblacion, Magsaysay died from electric shock while fishing at the Blocon River around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators found out that Salvador was river-fishing near his home using a wire plugged in an electric outlet.

The electrocution of fishes is usually done using batteries, but Salvador used alternating current from his house.

“This incident may serve as a lesson for everyone,” the police chief said.
