GAMU, Isabela –– Doctors of the Isabela provincial health office on Monday inspected the Army’s 5th Infantry Division facilities as a possible vaccination site for the rollout of Sinovac vaccines from China.
Major Jekyll Julian Dulawan, 5th Infantry Division (ID) spokesperson and public affairs chief, said government soldiers and other priority groups would be among the vaccine recipients.
In an interview with the Inquirer on Monday, Dulawan said the 5th ID has started preparing for the vaccines’ arrival, although its cold storage facility might not be enough for the vaccines.
Local hospitals will also be tapped for storage.
Civilians entering the camp would be strictly checked to ensure security and health protocols, he said.
Dulawan said part of the plan was to organize the vaccine recipients by clusters to control civilians entering the camp.
He said some of the soldiers were hesitant to get vaccinated but would if ordered.
An information drive is ongoing to educate soldiers on the benefits of being inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines.
