MANILA, Philippines — Marikina City began its vaccination program against Covid-19 on Tuesday, with four doctors from Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMMC) receiving the first jabs.
The first four doctors who were inoculated were Dr. Emerson Chua, an anesthesiologist, Dr. Flordeliza Grana, a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Alih Bryan Catis, a general surgeon, and Dr. Rocky Dizon, an internal medicine physician.
According to ARMMC’s Hospital Diseases Surveillance Medical Office head Dr. Cheantal Suñga, they are targeting to vaccinate at least 250 healthcare workers.
Marikina Sports Complex, the city’s “mega vaccination facility,” is capable of accommodating 10,000 people daily, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro has said.
The city government has also earmarked at least P10 million as indemnity funds for residents who may experience adverse reactions to Covid-19 vaccines.
The Philippines began its Covid-19 vaccination program on Monday after receiving 600,00 doses of Sinovac shots from the Chinese government.
