4.8-magnitude quake jolts Sultan Kudarat
MANILA, Philippines — A 4.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Sultan Kudarat and nearby provinces on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake struck 7 kilometers southwest of Columbio town in Sultan Kudarat at 6:51 a.m. and was felt in several towns in the province, as well as in Cotabato, South Cotabato and Sarangani provinces.
Phivolcs said the tremor was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 8 km.
The strongest shaking was felt in the towns of Columbio and President Quirino in Sultan Kudarat province. Phivolcs said no aftershocks were expected.
