MANILA, Philippines — San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora tested positive for COVID-19, he said in a statement on Monday night.
According to a post on Zamora’s Facebook page, he is asymptomatic and is currently quarantined at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center to avoid interaction with his family and relatives.
“I would like to announce that I have tested positive with COVID-19. My results came out today after a routine swab test yesterday evening, February 28, 2021. A confirmatory test was done today and the results turned out to be positive,” he said.
“I am currently asymptomatic and in good physical condition. I have decided to quarantine myself at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center to ensure that I do not transmit the virus to anyone else in the community and to protect everyone around me including my children and my wife who is a cancer survivor,” he added.
Zamora also asked his close contacts to have themselves tested as well, which may be obtained free by arranging a schedule with the city’s health officials.
“To everyone that I have come in contact with the past few days, kindly have yourself tested. We can arrange for a free RT-PCR swab for you. You can coordinate with Dra. Rosalie Sto. Domingo, our city health officer from Mondays to Fridays, 8am to 5pm for this at the COVID-19 Operations Center, 2nd floor, San Juan City Hall,” he noted.
